The inaugural 100 Views Project
Bondi Beach Public School embarked on an inaugral creative arts and technology project that set out to engage the whole school, teachers and students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The project presented A 100 VIEWS of Bondi Beach in various media, resulting in an insight into as well as a celebration of the community:
- hundreds of poems
- hundreds of pieces of artwork
- hundreds of performers (actors, dancers, singers, musicians)
- hundreds of hours interviewing significant community members, writing scripts, photographing, and editing, thus using technology as a means to communicate more widely.
School principal, Maria Hardy, the staff and students embraced author Libby Hathorn’s concept, The 100 VIEWS Project, which celebrates the arts and the community. This project enables students to explore their own community, in this case, Bondi Beach’s landscape, its history and culture in an integrated curriculum approach.
The 100 VIEW journey culminated with a 100 Views Festival including...
- An opening of art exhibition, multimedia display and launch of 100 VIEWS website.
- A concert - a showcase song and dance interpretation of Bondi Beach and our actors’ rendition of the play A Tram to Bondi Beach, co-written by J. Andrew Johnston, based on the book of the same title by Libby Hathorn. Download A Tram to Bondi Beach Flyer
