Getting Involved

The 100 Views Program is best run in a school over one or two school terms, working towards the Festival that celebrates the chosen community icon through the arts and technology. However, it can be run, as one local council has decided, over a year, and involve several schools at one time.

If your school or organization e.g. local council or shire, would like to take part in the celebration of its community through Libby Hathorn’s 100 Views Program, there are some steps to follow.

  • Contact Australian children's writer Libby Hathorn through her website email at http://www.libbyhathorn.com/ to express your interest.
  • Indicate the size of your school(s) population and the time frame preferred for running the program
  • Nominate your chosen community ‘icon’ which is a local feature that will be the focus of your progam e.g. a natural feature like Bondi Beach or historic building like Bronte House.
  • If chosen, the school then embarks on poetry writing and artwork and sets up a media group to make contact with the community through interviews. Work is uploaded to the 100Views.com.au site and contact school to school can be arranged. To date, Skype interviews have linked an Australian school to a Nepalese school through children in the program.

Please note. Given there is usually an Introduction to 100 Views followed by Writing Workshops and Art Workshops to be run for teachers to best initiate 100Views in a school, only a limited number of  programs can be undertaken in one year.

On the other hand, if appropriate, someone within the school could undertake the workshops which are posted in full detail on the site.  The school can then indicate their readiness for the students’ work to be uploaded onto the site, and thus be eligible to make contact with other schools in the program.
